Who We Are

History

The Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association (TAMA) was founded in 1987 by Marvin Runyon, then the President and CEO of Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation. Marvin felt the need to assist the large number of supplier organizations that were locating in Tennessee. The organization provided assistance navigating the cultural, regulatory, and business climates in Tennessee. The organization continues to move in that direction across the industry for members who do business across the automotive sector in the state.

Mission Statement

The Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association (TAMA) is the state’s leading industry organization with a mission to strengthen and expand Tennessee’s automotive industry.

TAMA fulfills this mission by fostering collaboration between industry and government entities, providing forums for networking and continuing education, preparing automotive manufacturers for workforce challenges and advocating for a regulatory environment to enable the automotive industry to thrive.

TAMA members are, first and foremost, excellent corporate citizens of the state. Through their sustained work in the automotive industry, they maintain a critical role in the Tennessee economy.
